Schedules
Rosters Saturday, March 15, 2008 The BAU Spring schedules have been posted on the schedules page. Please let us know A.S.A.P. if you see any mistakes. Thursday, March 13, 2008 The BAU softballs have arrived at Lawndale Baptist. Please contact Jimmy Jackson at Lawndale Baptist (288-3824) to arrange pickup of your softballs. As a reminder, only BAU softballs purchased from the BAU will be allowed this season. No exceptions. Balls are $10 for 3, $40 per dozen which is exactly the cost the BAU paid for them and much cheaper than most of us could get individually. Monday, February 25, 2008 The web site us obviously functioning now. Please send a message to the webmaster (webmaster@bausoftball.com) if something is broken. Spring Softball ready to go There are several changes that were introduced and confirmed by a vote of the coaches at the Spring meeting. 1) A new Church Sponsorship form is now REQUIRED to be turned in along with your roster forms. It is to be signed by the Pastor of the sponsoring church that signs the roster. If one Pastor signs all rosters for your church then only one form is required. If you have two or three teams and a different Pastor signs each roster then you will need to turn in a completed sponsorship form for each different signature. The form can be found on the web site. 2) The coaches voted at the Spring coach's meeting to adopt a different ball standard than the city and the NSA. The main reasons for this is to be able to have some semblance of consistency from year to year and to ensure the safety of the players in the BAU. Additionally, each team is required to purchase balls supplied by the BAU. The BAU will use this specification as its standard indefinitely, regardless of the NSA and City of Greensboro equipment standards. The BAU will furnish the balls at cost. The cost of the balls will be $40.00 per dozen, which is a significant savings over the generally available retail price. For the sake of simplicity, balls will be sold in lots a little as 3 for $10.00. So, you can purchase, 3, 6, a dozen or a couple dozen balls but the balls MUST be furnished by the BAU. The BAU ball will be stamped from the distributor with "BAU". No other ball will be allowed in BAU play other than those supplied by the BAU bearing the BAU stamp. The ball we agreed to use is a COR .44, 375 lbs. compression ball. This is the same specifications as the ASA balls we used prior to the City of Greensboro adopting the NSA rules. (FYI - for those of you who play softball in the City, the NSA COR .44, 525 lbs. balls will not be allowed in the city this season. The NSA COR .44, 400 lbs. ball will be used in the city). When you turn in your entry fee, please indicate how many balls you wish to purchase. Balls will not be generally available at concession stands, etc. so you'll need to arrange purchase of the balls through Jimmy Jackson and the Board of Directors. 3) Youth coaches: This season the BAU is restricting the number of boys who participate in school baseball to 5 or less per team. We're not sure any team has every had more than a couple and most have none but we're trying to stay ahead of the curve. Many other church-based leagues allow absolutely no AAU or school players so we are trying to accommodate unity and participation in church youth groups with a balance of the recreational spirit of youth softball. Friday, February 15, 2008 The Web site is currently being repaired. Most of the site should be up and running. Please report any broken links or malfunctions to the webmaster (webmaster@bausoftball.com). The discussion board has been disabled for the time being. Monday, February 11, 2008 2008 Spring Coach's Meeting Date: Saturday, February 23, 2008 The agenda for the meeting can be found on the Documents & Forms page (left) The Meeting is MANDATORY for all teams intending to participate in Men's Women's or Youth play in the BAU Spring season. if your coach cannot attend, send a representative.
