Fall Announcements

Congratulations to all co-ed teams for a successful and enjoyable season.  Congratulations to Cornerstone Baptist and Lawndale Baptist (2) on reaching the tournament finals.  Regular season and tournament award certificates will be handed out at the Spring coach's meeting.  We look forward to seeing everyone again in the Spring.

The regular season results and standings have been posted. We did not recieve official results from the umpire for the final Saturday so please let us know if the results are incorrect. The tournament brackets have also been updated.

Please try to have your team at the field and ready to play 30 minutes prior to your scheduled game. That way if the games early in the day end earlier than expected we can move along with the remaining games expeditously.

The Co-Ed tournament brackets have been posted.  The tournament seeds were determined based on the results as of 9/20/2008.  The tournament will be played on two Saturdays following the completion of the regular season.

The results and standings have been updated and posted.  We are working on tournament schedules now and hope to have the tournament schedules posted (based on results of 9/20) by mid-week.  There is a chance that the tournament may include 2 games on one Friday in order to get everything finished up in time and avoid potentially scheduling a team to play more than 3 games in one day.  Please contact Kevin Caviness or Jimmy Jackson if this poses an issue for your team.

The Co-Ed schedules have been posted.  Co-Ed will play on Saturday night only.  If any team needs softballs, contact Jimmy Jackson.

Changes to Fall schedule

Men
There will be no men's Fall softball in the BAU this year.  Only two churches submitted checks and a third was on the way.  Due to the cost of fields and umpires it is not possible to run a three-team league.  Checks will be returned or can be destroyed on your request.  Contact Jayne Pinnix (jpinnix@bellsouth.net) to arrange how to get your church's money back if you wrote one check for a co-ed and a men's team.

Co-Ed.
There will be 5 teams in the co-ed division this Fall.  Due to the lower than expected participation and the higher cost of City fields we have asked Gate City Baptist for the use of their field on Saturday nights.  They have agreed but need time to arrange dates for us.  So, the co-ed season will not begin until Saturday, August 23.  Also, rosters can be turned in at your first game.

Wood Bat
The Wood Bat schedule has been posted.  All games will be played at Gate City field.  Concessions will be open at Gate City during the season.  Rosters and Church Sponsorship forms can be turned in on the first game night at the field.

Coach's Meeting
The Spring wrap-up / Fall kickoff coach's meeting agenda has been posted on the documents and forms page.  If your team finished 1st or 2nd (ties included) in the regular season or tournament, please send a representative to collect your certificate.

All Fall teams (men and co-ed) MUST have a church sponsor.  The BAU Board has decided to discontinue the policy of waiving church sponsorship in the Fall.

Don't forget about the mid-season Wood Bat league.  Following are the key details:

Cost :  $175.00 per team
Season Starts:  Monday, July 7, 2008.  Plays on Monday nights only.
Season Lasts: Expected 5-6 weeks.  6 reg. season games + single-elimination tournament.
Game Night:  Monday nights (Times depend on # of teams)
Field : Gate City Baptist
Entry Fee Deadline: Saturday, June 28, 2008  (6:00 p.m.)
Wood Bat rules are posted on the Documents and Forms page.  All teams must have a church sponsor and fill out all the usual forms, including the new church sponsorship form.
